EU summit on healthy ageing

Healthy ageing greatly depends on the degree of adherence to therapy of eledery patients.  Forgetting to take medications prescribed or failing to follow your treatment plan correctly often happens when growing old. In most cases, it is just a matter of poor memory. Sometimes, however, the reasons behind forgetfulness are more complex.
The EU member States have joined in a partnership to study the adherence to therapy in old age in order to evalute the usefulness of a common approach to this topic. Among the principal aspects considered in their analysis are: the elderly patient’s decision making ability, the information received by the patients alond with their prescriptions and the varying levels of therapy adherence depending on the illness.
